Our volunteers at Citizens Advice LeicesterShire are as diverse as the community we serve; they are retirees, students and people looking to get back into work. Click here to see what our volunteers have to say about their experiences.

In our telephone contact centre we work with the Department for Work and Pensions to deliver work experience placements to the unemployed.  This is a popular scheme and many participants have used their experience to find paid work.

If you are a law student and train with us as a volunteer adviser you can get up to six months off your solicitor training contracts.

We need volunteers for:

  • Reception and/or administration roles
  • Advice and Support
  • Contact Centre (Charles Street Branch)
  • Fundraising
  • IT
  • Publicity
  • Campaigning

The minimum commitment of 6 hours per week plus attendance at the monthly team meetings is required.  Travel expenses paid.for journey to and from place of work but restricted to the border of Leicestershire.

All of our volunteers receive comprehensive free training.  All training is held at our Charles Street Branch.

To volunteer you need to be open-minded, non-judgmental, to be able to listen, learn and work as part of a team.

Volunteering will give you the chance to:

After we have received your application we will then invite you onto an informal interview to enable us to find out more about you to ensure you are suitable, explain more about training provided and to give you the opportunity to ensure that volunteer meets your needs and interests.
